CARUSO findings highlight gaps in EU vehicle data access
The latest CARUSO Connected Vehicle Field Test highlights persistent barriers to effective access to vehicle-generated data, one year after the EU Data Act began applying.
Assessing implementation across 28 vehicle manufacturer groups and 15 automotive use cases, the study finds that 64% of manufacturers lack an adequate pricing model for third parties, 68% lack adequate technical interfaces for automated data access, and 57% do not enable any of the use cases assessed.
These shortcomings make it difficult for independent service providers to develop and scale multi-brand connected mobility services, limiting innovation, consumer choice and business opportunities across the automotive value chain.
The findings underline the need for effective enforcement and dedicated automotive legislation to establish fair and transparent access conditions, common technical standards and interoperability, including access to the in-vehicle functions and resources required to deliver digital services.
