"European automotive technologies: smart solutions for road safety"
6 May 2013 - 14h00-20h00 - Autoworld Brussels
The CLEPA Safety Event showcased advanced active and passive safety techno-logies, ranging from Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) to pedestrian and vehicle detection as well as night vision and advanced restraint systems. By demon-strating the advanced safety technologies of the European automotive suppliers, CLEPA brought together the interested public, automotive experts and EU policy-makers. The event succesfully served as a platform not only for presenting the contribution of the European automotive suppliers to the goals of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety, but also for exchanging ideas and gaining technical insight into state-of-the-art safety technologies.
In the framework of the UN Global Road Safety Week, the European Commission organised the "European Road Safety Day" on 6 May in Brussels. The day featured a conference on pedestrian safety with the participation of the Commissioner for Transport Siim Kallas and other EU officials, as well as the "Long Short Walk", a safety march focussing on pedestrian safety and organised by FIA.
