CLEPA “MAPP” Initiative
The “MAPP” initiative: Manufacturers Against Product Piracy
The MAPP initiative is an industry initiative created by a group of CLEPA members to fight against product counterfeiters and to share knowledge on all topics related to Brand protection.
This initiative was created since it is CLEPA’s philosophy that automotive suppliers are
Competitors in the market, but Partners in Brand Protection.
Partners of the Initiative
Currently, the following CLEPA Members take part in the MAPP Initiative:
Bosch | Mahle |
Brembo | NGK |
Delphi | Osram |
Federal Mogul | Remy Automotive Europe |
GKN | Sanden of Europe |
Haldex | Schaeffler |
Honeywell | SKF |
KYB Europe | TecCom |
Magneti Marelli | TRW Wabco |
Mann+Hummel | ZF |
The MAPP Initiative is open to all CLEPA Members. Interested members are invited to contact CLEPA for more information.
Activities and Objectives
The MAPP Initiative focuses on organising knowledge-sharing meetings where topics such as Brand Protection strategies, custom handling, etc. are discussed. Any member of the MAPP Initiative can propose a “Hot Topic” to be discussed and handled by the Initiative.
In addition a joint survey amongst the members is developed to identify critical issues on counterfeiting.
The Initiative also focuses on raising awareness at the European Commission in particular, as well as with other national and international institutions.
Events
The next joint CLEPA-VREI "Brand Protection" meeting will be held on 29 February 2012 at the Mann+Hummel Offices in Ludwigsburg.
Members interested in participating can contact the CLEPA Office (see below).
MAPP Code Campaign
CLEPA supports the MAPP Code Campaign, which is being implemented by some CLEPA members as an industry wide solution. The MAPP Code offers the opportunity to recognise authentic automotive parts quickly and securely by scanning a 2D matrix code.
For more information please go to the MAPP Code Campaign website.
